Equipment

  • 1 Measuring spoons
  • 1 Measuring cups
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Parchment Paper

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226g) Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (220g) Packed brown sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (384g) All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 2 cups (340g) Chocolate chips (Or chopped chocolate of your choice)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in tough cookies.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may still appear slightly under cooked, but they will firm up as the cookies cool.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Repeat with the remaining dough, and enjoy!

Tips for Perfecting Your Chocolate Chip Cookies

While the recipe itself is straightforward, here are a few tips to ensure your chocolate chip cookies turn out perfectly every time:
  1. Use room temperature ingredients: Make sure your butter and eggs are at room temperature before starting. This will help create a smooth and evenly mixed dough.
  2. Chill the dough: If you have the time, refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Chilled dough results in cookies with a chewier texture and better flavor.
  3. Don’t overmix: Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Overmixing can lead to tough cookies.
  4. Use parchment paper: Using parchment paper on your baking sheet prevents the cookies from sticking and ensures even baking.
  5. Experiment with chocolate: While traditional chocolate chips work great, feel free to try different types of chocolate like dark chocolate, white chocolate, or even a combination of chocolates for a unique twist.
